I'm 33 years old and have been performing regularly as a singer since I was a child. However, I really began my singing career when I joined my first working band 12 years ago. Since then, I have performed in many different bands and have participated in many shows, including several at the London Palladium. I am also an experienced studio session singer. (Read my CV here)
As a seasoned singer with rock bands, I understand very well the pressures of performing live and the various voice niggles that occur during gigs (Can’t hear the monitor! Cigarette smoke dries your throat out!). Because I've been there myself, I can help students to make the best of their voices in that environment.
I also understand what it's like to have to perform take after take during recording sessions, which can also take its toll on the voice in a different way. This is why I feel I can pass on some good tips to singers wanting to make a living in this way!
I am very fortunate to have studied myself under the wing of several acclaimed voice teachers. Barbara McGillivray is an experienced vocal coach who has worked with West End productions such as Cats and Starlight Express. Stevie Vann Lange (www.stevielange.com ) and Elysha West of SVL Productions Ltd, London are highly sought-after vocal coaches in the world of pop, and have recently worked with acts as diverse as the Sugababes, Blue, KT Tunstall and Lulu!
